During my mission to see all 32 pitta species Feb 1st 2009-Jan 31st 2010 I’m planning to visit the locations marked with a green triangle, (1 triangle = 1 pitta species.) The red triangles show some of the bonus ‘insurance’ subspecies that I’ll target if time allows. (These may one day be split and accorded full species status.) African Pitta (Zambia) and Green-breasted Pitta (Uganda) are displayed separately on the lower map.
